Job Overview

Telespazio Germany is looking to complement their current Earth Observation Mission Operations team with additional engineering support, delivering services to ESA/ESOC for the Earth Explorer missions.. This position is based at ESOC in Darmstadt. It is full-time and permanent.

Key Responsibilities

The general activities to be supported by this service are:

  • General Flight Control Support Service.
  • Responsible for the Operations Database (ODB)
  • Study of Project-Specific Characteristics and Ground Segment Documentation.
  • Participation in the Analysis and Design of Satellite Operations.
  • Preparation and update of Flight Control and Contingency Procedures.
  • Mission Management and Mission Planning Support Service.
  • Support for Mission Control System evolution and testing.
  • Tool development and maintenance.
  • Participation in the team Training Program.
  • Participation in all Mission Critical Operations.
  • Spacecraft Performance Analysis.
  • On-Call service

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • University Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
  • Spacecraft Payload or Platform subsystem knowledge
  • Experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations.
  • Programming knowledge (Python, Bash)
  • Coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
  • Familiarity with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat
  • Familiarity with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS-2000, EGOS-CC
  • Familiarity with Flight Procedures, test and validation
  • Satellite Verification Test planning & execution.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Earth Observation satellite operations.
  • Familiarity with the ESOC environment.
  • Experience with SQL database updates and application deployments in a configuration-controlled environment, Spacecraft Database Management knowledge is a plus.
  • Some experience dealing with external interfaces, e.g. Project, Industry, PDGS, etc.
  • Familiarity with MOIS, or ProTos
