What You Will Focus on 

The Business Development Manager - Defence will operate at the nexus of technical innovation and strategic market expansion, specifically targeting Space Domain Awareness (SDA), DIDIT (our innovative drone detection system), as well as other elements of our space domain portfolio. This role demands a deep understanding of the defence sector's unique challenges and procurement cycles, particularly within Germany, Austria and Switzerland. You will leverage Telespazio Germany's cutting-edge technologies and capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the defence and critical infrastructure market, driving growth and securing strategic partnerships.

What You Bring

Opportunity Identification:

  • Proactively scout for new business opportunities within SDA, drone detection, and the defence and critical infrastructure market in the DACH region, with a strong emphasis on Germany
  • Monitor defence industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor strategies to inform business development and positioning

Assessment and Proposal Development:

  • Evaluate potential opportunities through a defence-oriented lens, collaborating with technical teams to tailor solutions that address specific market needs
  • Craft compelling proposals that highlight Telespazio Germany's expertise in defence technologies and SDA, ensuring alignment with clients' strategic goals
  • Engage technical and delivery teams in the creation of proposal content, ensuring solutions are both innovative and compliant

Negotiation and Deal Closure:

  • Lead negotiations with a blend of technical insight and strategic business acumen, focusing on government and defence sectors
  • Work closely with legal and finance teams to secure contracts that reflect a deep understanding of the defence industry's complexities
  • Oversee the sales cycle from initiation to closure, demonstrating proficiency in securing contracts within the defence sector

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders in the defence community, becoming a trusted advisor for SDA and drone detection solutions
  • Understand and anticipate client needs, delivering customized solutions that ensure long-term partnerships and satisfaction

Market Expansion: 

  • Strategize and implement initiatives to enhance Telespazio Germany's market presence in the defence sector, with a particular focus on SDA and drone detection
  • Expand your network within the defence community, leveraging relationships to uncover new opportunities and strengthen Telespazio Germany's brand

Essentially

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Established network within the defence, government, and military sectors in the DACH region, especially Germany
  • Fluent in German and proficient in English, with excellent communication skills suited to the defence industry's unique requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex sales cycles and clinch high-value deals in a defence context
  • Strong technical foundation, paired with exceptional strategic, commercial, and negotiation skills

Desirable

  • Understanding of SDA, drone detection systems, and related space technologies is a plus
  • Active security clearance
