Copernicus Spacecraft Operations Engineer - Sentinel (f/m/d)

Who You Are

We are looking for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer (SOE) with strong engineering skills and experience to support our customer EUMETSAT, based in Darmstadt. As a full member of our excellent SOE team for Sentinel mission, you will deliver a state of the art spacecraft operations for the Sentinel-6 spacecraft and depending upon the requirement cross train on the other mission as per the request of the Service Manager.

In this role, you report to the customer (EUMETSAT) and Telespazio Germany's service manager.

The position is full-time and permanent with the earliest starting date of 1 June/July 2024.

What You Will Focus on 

  • Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures.
  • Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments.
  • Investigation into spacecraft anomalies.
  • Prepare and execute recovery operations.
  • Participation in spacecraft on-call support on a rotational basis.
  • You maintain operations documentation and flight procedures.
  • Identification and support to the implementation of system and process improvements in the team.
  • Develop and validate mission's innovative set of operational tools.
  • Support the systems and operations preparation of the upcoming missions and activities.

What You Bring

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related area.
  • You have several years of experience working in spacecraft operations and operations preparation, including ground segment and spacecraft operations validation (e.g. SVTs) and simulations and training. You have proven experience with spacecraft mission controls systems for LEO spacecraft systems, especially SCOS-2000.
  • Last, but not least: Any related experience in studies or early design phases of future Copernicus Missions (e.g. CHIME, CIMR, CO2M, CRISTAL, LSTM or ROSE-L) will be a huge plus.
