Middleware Developer for ATM Systems (w/m/d)

Who You Are

You will enforce our team providing Engineering Services in the area of Air Traffic Control (ATC) for our customer Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) who is the German Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP). Special emphasis will be in the contribution to the development and maintenance of middleware software called iMAS in the iCAS ATM system that is increasingly being used to control en-route flights in German airspace. 

This position is permanent and based at our customer site at DFS Langen. Remote-working is allowed under some conditions with an immediate starting date.

What You Will Focus on

Generally:

  • Implementing SW changes/SW bug fixes iMAS (iCAS Middleware) for assigned CP and PTR.
  • Creating and agreeing on appropriate SW requirements in MF Dimensions RM or Indra DOORS.
  • Development and developer testing (module testing if applicable) of change proposals and bug fixes.
  • Bug documentation
  • Execution of code reviews
  • Documentation of changes
  • Estimation of the development effort of SW changes
  • Analysis of observations from tests and documentation of analysis results in the appropriate media (Jira, Change).

Requirements specification:

  • Creation of software requirements
  • Coordination of SW requirements with requirements engineer, task manager, and customer as appropriate.

Software Development:

  • Managing software development life cycle for the code-base which is written, managed and committed in the DFS configuration control system, ClearCase.
  • Ensuring that the specifications of the applicable Coding Style Guide are met.
  • Performing all required measurements (metrics) and document them.
  • Compiling the test initialization data, the test tools used and the test scenarios.
  • Performing as many engineering runs as necessary in the test lab to tune the test procedure.

What You Bring

  • Completed Bachelor's, Diploma or Master's degree in a technical or scientific field (e.g. in the fields of computer science, mathematics, communications engineering) with several years of relevant professional experience.

Essentially

  • Experience in the technical domain of iMAS
  • Experience in C++, Java, ADA programming languages desirable.
  • Experience with the middleware CORBA
  • Experience with DDS (Data Distribution Service) desirable
  • Experience with the script languages Python, Perl, div. Shell
  • Experience in software development of systems under Linux
  • English spoken and written
  • Experience in requirements engineering
  • Experienced handling of version control software
  • Specifications in MF Dimensions RM, DOORS or comparable tool
  • Issue tracking systems (Jira or comparable tool)
  • MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Air traffic control know-how
